1. Introduction
Welcome to Oppad ("the App"). These Terms & Conditions govern your account creation and use of our community-powered public transport, minibus taxi, and bus tracking services.
By creating an account, enabling location permissions, or logging transit sightings, you agree to comply with these Terms. If you do not agree, you may not use the App.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account. By using the App, you represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement under South African law.
3. User-Generated Content (UGC) & Location Telemetry
Our App relies on community-submitted transit sightings and live data mapping. To maintain a safe, functional, and reliable environment, the following rules apply:
- Zero Tolerance: There is zero tolerance for objectionable content, location manipulation, or abusive behavior.
- Prohibited Activity: You may not submit intentionally false sightings, upload spoofed coordinate data, or use the App's location telemetry features to track individuals or stalk operators. Content containing profanity, hate speech, or harassment is strictly prohibited.
- Hardware Permissions: To submit real-time sightings, the App requires foreground access to your device's native GPS Location Services. You agree that coordinates captured during a submission will be integrated into the community timeline feed.
- Moderation & Enforcement: We reserve the right to use automated location validation and human moderation to block inaccurate coordinates, hide malicious logs, and permanently ban non-compliant devices.
- Reporting: Users can flag incorrect coordinates, spam sightings, or abusive profiles directly through the App.
4. Account Management & Deletion
To log sightings, you must register an account. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
Data Deletion: In compliance with Google Play policies and POPIA, you may delete your account and all associated personal data at any time through the Profile settings. Once deleted, your account identifiers are removed irreversibly, though decoupled, anonymized vehicle timelines may remain.
5. Advertisements & Third-Party Links
The App displays advertisements to remain free for users. By using the App, you agree to the display of these ads. We are not responsible for the content, products, or services offered by third-party advertisers.
6. Reliability Scoring & Rewards
Your "Reliability Score" is a metric used to verify the quality of your contributions. We reserve the right to reset scores, remove badges, or lock accounts if we detect "farming" (logging fake coordinate sightings to gain points) or other fraudulent activities.
7. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
The App is a community-sourced telemetry tool. We do not guarantee the arrival times, route availability, or scheduling of any minibus taxi or bus.
- Telemetry Limits: Real-time mapping and feed synchronization depend on device GPS availability, mobile cellular coverage, and user submissions. Data is provided "as is" for informational convenience and should not be relied upon for critical operations.
- Liability Exclusion: We are not responsible for missed transportation, delays, monetary losses, disruptions, or personal safety incidents arising from inaccuracies in community logs or GPS errors.
- The App is provided without express or implied warranties of any kind under South African law.
8. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
